Position Overview
A well-established specialty contractor in the Los Angeles area is seeking a dependable and hands-on Operations Director to lead day-to-day field and production operations. This role is responsible for overseeing field operations, service scheduling, engineering coordination, and shop/fabrication workflow to ensure projects and service work are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
This position is focused on execution, manpower coordination, scheduling, and operational performance. The Operations Director will work closely with Project Managers and company leadership but will not be responsible for contract administration or financial ownership of individual projects.
This role is ideal for an experienced operations leader who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and enjoys building structure, accountability, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations through Superintendents and Foremen
- Oversee service department scheduling and daily execution
- Coordinate engineering workflow and drawing production timelines
- Manage shop/fabrication operations and material readiness
- Develop and manage manpower, equipment, and production schedules
- Improve communication and coordination between field and office teams
- Implement operational processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Monitor productivity, staffing levels, and workflow efficiency
- Enforce safety standards and company policies
- Support leadership in driving operational consistency and performance
Qualifications
- 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in construction, fire protection, mechanical contracting, or related trades
- Experience managing field operations, service teams, or production workflows
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills
- Ability to manage multiple crews and priorities simultaneously
- Hands-on leadership style with strong communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic operational systems
- Valid driverâs license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Preferred Experience
- Fire protection, sprinkler, plumbing, mechanical, or specialty contracting industry experience
- Experience overseeing service or installation teams
- Familiarity with manpower planning, dispatching, or field scheduling
- Experience improving workflows or operational processes

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $105,000 â $125,000 annually
