CNC Programmer -Mill
Our client is a leading manufacturer specializing in custom-engineered materials and precision-fabricated components used across multiple industrial applications. We are seeking a CNC Programmer / Operator I to support their Production Fulfillment Process by creating CNC programs, preparing process plans, and assisting with machining operations. This is the first of two programming levels and is ideal for someone with foundational CNC programming experience who is ready to grow.
You will work primarily from engineered drawings and specifications to develop code, determine machining sequences, and support safe, accurate machine operation. Projects are moderately complex, and while youâll work independently, youâll also have access to experienced team members for support.
Essential Job Functions
CNC Programming & Machining

Develop CNC programs for automated machine tools and fabrication equipment.

Analyze job orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine dimensions, tooling, speeds, and feed rates.

Determine machining sequences and select appropriate cutting tools.

Prepare layout drawings using CAD software.

Write and revise programs in the machine controllerâs language; store and maintain program files.

Conduct tests and in-process inspections to ensure quality and optimize machine performance.

Set up and operate CNC/manual fabrication machines as needed.

Complete all required work order documentation.

Maintain updated CNC backup files.
Production Support & Continuous Improvement

Recommend tooling for new customer quotes.

Inspect tools to ensure they are safe and undamaged.

Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and workflow.

Assist in training team members when needed.

Participate in cross-training within the department.

Follow all safety rules, quality standards, and company values.
Qualifications & Competencies

Ability to work independently with minimal defects.

Strong communication skills for coordinating work order priorities.

Flexibility to adapt to urgent or changing production needs.

Intermediate to advanced math skills.

Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.

Proficiency with basic measuring instruments.

Strong problem-solving abilities.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Experience with computer-aided design software.

Willingness to work overtime as required.
Education & Experience
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Prior hands-on vocational training or job-related coursework preferred.

Experience as a drafter, technician, machinist, or Operator III is beneficial.

Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Strong math skills and specialized training are a plus.
Physical Requirements

Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands for handling materials.

Frequent lifting/moving of up to 40 lbs.

Ability to adjust focus and perform detailed visual inspections.
Work Environment

Typical shop environment; not climate-controlled.

Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and occasional contact with chemicals.
