Millwork Finisher
The Millwork Wood Finisher is responsible for preparing, finishing, and inspecting wood products to ensure a high-quality final appearance that meets project specifications. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of finishing techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare wood surfaces for finishing by sanding, cleaning, and masking as needed
• Apply a variety of finishes including pre-catalyzed lacquer, conversion varnish, stains, and sealers using spray equipment and hand application methods
• Utilize finishing techniques such as spraying, brushing, and wiping to achieve desired results
• Mix and match custom stain colors in accordance with project requirements
• Inspect finished products for defects, consistency, and overall quality throughout the process
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including spray booths, tools, and equipment
• Collaborate with shop team members to understand project needs and meet production deadlines
• Follow all safety procedures and properly handle finishing materials in accordance with SDS guidelines
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials as needed:
• Up to 70 pounds on a rare basis
• 21â50 pounds occasionally
• Up to 20 pounds frequently
• Two-person lift required for items over 50 pounds
• Regular use of hands for grasping, handling, and manipulating wood products
• Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shift in a production environment
Qualifications:
• Prior experience in wood finishing, millwork, cabinetry, or a related field preferred
• Familiarity with spray equipment and finishing materials (lacquers, stains, sealers, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret finish specifications and work orders
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Basic understanding of color matching and mixing techniques
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Any additional tasks as assigned by the manager
Schedule M-F 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM with possible overtime
Compensation: $21-$30 per hour depending on experience
