Assistant Controller
Overview:
Responsible for overseeing all financial operations within a growing organization in the manufacturing and supplement production space. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage core accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions. The Controller will play a key role in driving financial efficiency, maintaining accurate reporting, and partnering with leadership across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop, monitor, and analyze budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
- Partner with leadership to provide financial analysis and actionable business insights
- Perform cost accounting and margin analysis, including raw materials, labor, and overhead
- Implement and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financing activities
- Oversee tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting/finance team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and quality teams to align financial and production goals
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and financial reporting
- Experience in manufacturing, nutraceuticals, food, or pharmaceutical industries strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Ability to work in a dynamic, hands-on environment
