Master Scheduler

Job Title: Master Scheduler

Job Summary

The Master Scheduler leads a team of Material Planners to assess sales forecasts, execute material acquisition strategies, and coordinate manufacturing production in alignment with company inventory objectives. This role relies on Material Requirements Planning (MRP) support through the Vantage/Epicor 9 Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) to ensure efficient production planning and inventory control.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Material Management, the Master Scheduler will:

  • Develop and maintain a high-level understanding of company inventory objectives and policies.

  • Validate monthly Sales and Marketing forecasts and oversee their implementation in the Vantage/Epicor 9 ERP system.

  • Supervise Material Planners to ensure timely execution of material acquisition activities required by MRP to support production plans.

  • Coordinate with the Assembly Department to establish and maintain realistic production schedules based on inventory objectives, sales forecasts, and non-routine customer demand. Incorporate heijunka principles to ensure efficient build quantities and inventory balance.

  • Monitor and coordinate material requirements to support new product launches, including tooling and fixture build schedules, to meet launch and delivery timelines.

  • Develop forecast and trend analyses to support Product Management in product life cycle planning.

  • Maintain continuous communication with Manufacturing and cross-functional teams to ensure materials are expedited and steady production run rates are achieved for high-usage items.

  • Revise production schedules and demand plans based on customer priorities, inventory availability, and equipment constraints; analyze finished goods inventory to minimize excess and shortages.

  • Utilize data analysis techniques to develop production strategies that optimize process efficiency; proactively identify performance issues (availability, downtime, shortages), perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Track, analyze, and generate weekly and monthly production planning and performance reports.

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

  • Demonstrate a positive, respectful attitude and collaborate effectively with coworkers, management, and internal/external customers.

  • Work safely at all times and immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, or incidents.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Business, or a related field, or up to six (6) years of relevant work experience.



Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Lean Manufacturing implementation experience (plant layout, production flow, value stream mapping, heijunka, Kanban, JIT).

  • Prior exposure to ISO standards.

  • Experience implementing planning systems such as Epicor, Vantage 8, or MAS.

  • Strong understanding of MPS, MRP, and production planning systems.

  • In-depth scheduling and planning fundamentals.

  • CPIM and/or CSCP certification preferred.

  • Strong statistical and data analysis skills.
