Job Title: Visual Parts Inspector & Inspection Report Specialist
Job Summary
The Visual Parts Inspector & Inspection Report Specialist is responsible for examining manufactured parts and components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This role involves detailed visual inspections, identifying defects or non-conformances, and accurately documenting findings in inspection reports to support quality control and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of parts, components, and assemblies for defects such as scratches, dents, discoloration, incorrect dimensions, or improper finishes
- Verify products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Use basic inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) when needed
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately in inspection reports
- Prepare detailed reports including:
- Description of defects
- Measurements and observations
- Photos (if applicable)
- Pass/fail determinations
- Maintain inspection logs and records for traceability and audits
- Communicate quality issues to supervisors, engineers, or production teams
- Follow company quality procedures, safety standards, and compliance requirements
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts by reporting recurring defects or trends
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical training preferred)
- Previous experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or quality control preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, or quality systems software)
- Good written communication skills for report writing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Skills & Competencies
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Time management and organizational abilities
- Clear and concise technical writing
- Familiarity with quality standards (e.g., ISO) is a plus
Work Environment
- Manufacturing, warehouse, or quality lab setting
- May require standing for extended periods
- Use of safety equipment (gloves, safety glasses, etc.) as needed
